INFORMATION AND BOOKING FORMS
INVITATION
Bishop Richard Moth, our liaison bishop for Catholics in scouting with the Bishop’s Conference, Father John Seddon, National Scout Chaplain and the Salesians of Don Bosco invite you to join them for a weekend camp held under the auspices of the National Catholic Scout Fellowship (NCSF).
PARTICIPATION
Although primarily a camp for all sections of Catholic Scouts and Guides and even Cubs,Beavers, Brownies and Rainbows, the camp is of course open to any Scouts and Guides of any religion/denomination who wish to join us, and they will all be made most welcome. Please note that it is the responsibility of each leader in charge of their group to complete and submit their Nights Away Notification. Leaders should also complete their ‘in touch’ or ‘home contact’ systems
VENUE
The venue for the camp is Savio House, Ingersley Road, Bollington, Cheshire SK10 5RW (Map enclosed – website: http://virtualsavio.com/
DATES
The camp will run from Friday evening 25th May to Sunday afternoon 27th May 2012. Campers may arrive either Friday evening or Saturday morning. (Leaders should report to the Camp Chief, Simon Morely at the Barn upon arrival).
COST
The cost will be £15 per head for the weekend irrespective of whether arriving Friday evening or Saturday morning. The cost includes the camp fees, administration costs,& BBQ. It does not include food, with the exception of the Saturday evening BBQ. The attached booking form should be returned by 31st December along with a £20 non-returnable deposit per group (or full amount of £15 for individuals). Cheques should be made out to ‘Catholic Events Account’.
PROGRAMME
The programme is attached, please note this is subject to change and a final programme will be issued when you register at camp.
TOILETS/WATER
We will be camping on a field belonging to Savio House and adjacent to the Barn. There will toilet tents on site, mainly for night time use, and washing facilities, showers and toilets in the Barn. Water will be available on the camp site.
COOKING/FIRES
You may cook on fire but the usual rules apply, leave the site in good order and ensure all vestiges of the fire are cleared away before you depart the site. You can also bring stoves and cook on them, or operate a mixture of fire and stove.
SECURITY ETC
Campers are requested to take care of their own possessions and valuables e.g. Cameras and not to make any noise after 11.00 p.m.
FOOD AND EQUIPMENT
You will need to bring with you, your own food for every meal, with the exception of Saturday evening when there is a BBQ, and any equipment you need for camping and cooking.
MASS
The Mass will take place in the Chapel in the main house (or outdoors) at 12 Noon on Sunday.
NECKERS
The National Catholic neckerchief will be on sale at £2 each. It would be nice if all participants bought one of these and wore it instead of their group neckers for the duration of the camp.
PRAYER BOOKS & SCOUT NEW TESTAMENTS
Also on sale will be the Catholic Prayer book for scouts written by the National Chaplain, Fr John Seddon. Cost £1 And the Scout New Testament with notes for scouts by Fr John Seddon and a foreword by Bishop Edwin Regan at £3.50
UNIFORM
Uniform should be worn travelling to and from the camp. Also, for the opening and closing ceremonies, and the Mass on Sunday.
BOOKING FORMS
If you or your group wish to join us on the camp, then please complete the ‘CAMPER’S BOOKING FORM [A]’, and return it to me at the address given below, with a £20 non-returnable deposit for groups (or the full cost of £15 for individuals) by 31st December at the latest. Cheques should be made payable to, ‘Catholic Events Account’.
INDOOR ACCOMODATION
We have available some limited indoor accommodation in the Barn which will accommodate 36 young people and 4 leaders, this will be on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. There will also be 3 places in the main house for adults. The Barn is also self catering apart from the BBQ on Saturday evening. Cost indoor (barn) £36 per person. You should bring sleeping bag or sheets and pillow cases, duvets and sheets are provided.
